Dauntons have been present in Pimlico since the 1930s, originally operating under the title of James A Dauntons. The name of the business changed to Dauntons Soar following its merger in 1990 with the Chartered Surveyors practice A Cobden Soar that used to be in Westminster since the 1960s. The lead partners of both firms used to be in the same college in the 1930s, a fact discovered post merger of the two practices.
After the merger, the company encompassed the following disciplines:
- Residential Valuations and Surveying
- Commercial Agency
- Development
- Leasehold Advisory
- Residential and Commercial Management.
On 1st January 2001, the management section, also known at the time as Dauntons Soar Residential Management Services, was purchased by a partner, Simon Pring FRICS, and the company was renamed Dauntons Soar Management Limited.
In November 2018, Simon Pring, due to his retirement, sold Dauntons Soar to HML PM Ltd, who continue to operate the business as a stand-alone subsidiary. Dauntons Soar continue to offer a complete service to its clients and lessees.

Dauntons Soar are regulated by the Association of Residential Managing Agents (ARMA) and the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).
